- CALL FOR PAPERS
-
- IEEE-CS International Software Metrics Symposium
-
- May 21 - 22, 1993
- Baltimore, MD U.S.A.
-
- Immediately following ICSE-15
-
- Sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee
- on Software Engineering
-
- Theme: Software Metrics Theory Meets Practice
-
- The area of software metrics is concerned with measurement and prediction in
- software engineering. Software measures assess attributes of interest
- such as quality, complexity and cost in software products and processes.
- Prediction systems estimate attributes such as effort and reliability.
- These measurement and prediction systems are needed both during development
- of software and for use in experimental software engineering.
-
- To date we have many such measures and prediction systems. We also have
- guidelines for their development. This includes work on measurement theoretic
- and axiomatic foundations and on processes for model building and metric
- development.
-
- Ultimately the success of software models and metrics is determined by
- successful use in actual software development environments or experimentation.
- To build a synergistic discipline, we need to bring together these theoretical,
- empirical and practical aspects.
- Thus this workshop is interested in cross fertilization of results in the
- following areas:
-
- measurement theory
- model building and reuse
- metrics formally developed from empirical studies
- experience with the use of processes for metrics and model building
- empirical validation of software metrics
- (especially those that were axiomatically derived)
- results based on practical use of software metrics and models
- principles of experimental software engineering
- (design of experiments, representation and use of results)
-
-
- We invite papers (up to 12 single spaced pages) on any of the above topics,
- but are especially interested in papers which address two or more areas.
- Five copies of the paper should be submitted to one of the program co-chairs.
-
- IMPORTANT DATES
-
- Submission Deadline: November 5, 1992
- Notification of Acceptance: January 15, 1993
- Camera Ready Version Due: February 15, 1993
