  14. Not being a tcp/ip guru or even expert, I am running into a problem that
  15. I 
  16. can't resolve.

  18. the situation: transfering data over a private wire EtherNet (no routing, 
  19. two David 10bT hubs, fully certified) between Mac IIci (8/80 Asante 
  20. Ethernet adapter using  Apple drivers in System 7.0.1 with TuneUp 1.1.1 
  21. and MacTCP 1.1) and Tandem RISC based minimain.

  23. problem: as reported by a sniffer on the line: the segment size coming
  24. down from the Tandem is 1500 ... going up from the Mac to the Tandem
  25. the segment size is being negotiated down to 590 ... WHY?? Is MacTCP
  26. doing this?? I was reading (Comer's Internetworking with TCP/IP)
  27. that it is a SUGGESTED spec, not a requiredpart of the spec for 
  28. this to happen.

  30. Has anyone seen this ... or can anyone help. We are attempting to
  31. benchmark 
  32. for max throughput, and this problem is severly impacting this test ...
