- I earlier reported a problem with printing with PC-NFS 4.0 after upgrading
- from 3.5c. Before the upgrade, the printer was mounted raw, after the
- upgrade, the printer was no longer mounted raw. I THOUGHT that it was
- mounted raw, because I deleted the printer definition and re-defined it to
- be mounted raw and checked it. This was further reinforced when I found
- that graphics printing from Windows worked correctly.
-
- After a conversation with Sun Tech Support, I found that when I was checking
- to see if it were mounted raw, I was checking the RESOURCE menu and that
- does not necessarily reflect the true state of affairs (despite the fact
- that I had rebooted several times since changing the definition). When I
- looked on the CONNECTIONS menu, I found that the printer was NOT mounted raw
- as I had previously assumed.
-
- I again deleted the printer definition and re-defined it (I probably did
- something wrong during the previous attempt). I made sure that the printer
- showed that it was mounted raw on both menus. After that, my printer
- worked.
-
- A couple of comments/questions:
-
- 1) It does not appear to matter what mode your printer is mounted under
- in Windows (why is this, I wonder).
-
- 2) I would think that the upgrade process would make sure to convert the
- previous options to thier new equivalents.
-
- 3) Why does the RESOURCE menu not show the same thing as the CONNECTIONS
- menu and, if there is a good reason, why does it not somehow indicate
- that what is shown is not necessarily the true state of affairs?
