  11. I earlier reported a problem with printing with PC-NFS 4.0 after upgrading
  12. from 3.5c.  Before the upgrade, the printer was mounted raw, after the
  13. upgrade, the printer was no longer mounted raw.  I THOUGHT that it was
  14. mounted raw, because I deleted the printer definition and re-defined it to
  15. be mounted raw and checked it.  This was further reinforced when I found
  16. that graphics printing from Windows worked correctly.

  18. After a conversation with Sun Tech Support, I found that when I was checking
  19. to see if it were mounted raw, I was checking the RESOURCE menu and that
  20. does not necessarily reflect the true state of affairs (despite the fact
  21. that I had rebooted several times since changing the definition).  When I
  22. looked on the CONNECTIONS menu, I found that the printer was NOT mounted raw
  23. as I had previously assumed.

  25. I again deleted the printer definition and re-defined it (I probably did
  26. something wrong during the previous attempt).  I made sure that the printer
  27. showed that it was mounted raw on both menus.  After that, my printer
  28. worked.

  30. A couple of comments/questions:

  32. 1)  It does not appear to matter what mode your printer is mounted under
  33.     in Windows (why is this, I wonder).
  34.  
  35. 2)  I would think that the upgrade process would make sure to convert the
  36.     previous options to thier new equivalents.
  37.  
  38. 3)  Why does the RESOURCE menu not show the same thing as the CONNECTIONS
  39.     menu and, if there is a good reason, why does it not somehow indicate
  40.     that what is shown is not necessarily the true state of affairs?
