- Hi,
- I have a question about the daemon that runs on a Unix host to provide
- print and filelocking/sharing services to PC NFS clients. I am using the
- Beame and Whiteside product bwnfsd and it is running on Ultrix4.2 on a
- DECStation 5000/120.
-
- I have noticed that over a period of time (a week or so) that the memory
- usage of bwnfsd as reported by 'ps -aux' grows from 1.9% to approx 35%. I
- have confirmed this growth with a DEC public domain programme called 'pmon'.
-
- The rate at which the memory usage grows depends on the actual usage by the
- PC clients. By the way, the DECStation has 16MBytes of RAM. I have 5 PC-NFS
- clients attached to the Unix box and the load is only light - approx 5 megabytes
- of data a day between the 5 PC's.
-
- I am a little puzzled why this increase in memory usage is occurring. Has
- anyone else found this problem or perhaps have any suggestions? Any help
- would be appreciated.
-
