- Hello again.
-
- I'm attempting to run CAP6.0-pl100 on a DECstation 3100
- running Ultrix 4.2a. I have the 2 kernel patches
- (pfilt.o and net_common.o that one of you gracious folks
- sent me) installed. And I have configured for Ethertalk
- Phase 2. Things *almost* work in fact, I thought they
- were working. Here are the symptoms.
-
- aarpd and atis start okay. And I can run aufs. The aufs
- server shows up in the chooser and I can attach to it
- and open volumes. Wonderful. However, after I close
- the aufs volume and wait. Then the DECstation server
- no longer shows up in the chooser. If I look at Ethernet
- traffic using (the *very* handy) apm tool, what I
- see is the DECstation AARPing for the Mac's address.
- And the Mac giving an AARP response right back. But
- the DECstation apparently fails to get it, because it
- generates another AARP request ad naseum.
-
- However, if I run MacPing (which generates a bunch of appletalk
- ECHO packets) on my Ethertalk mac, then the DECstation
- aufs server shows up and everything works. If I wait
- (until the arp entry times out, I guess), then it now
- longer shows up in the Chooser, and we're back to the
- AARPing game.
-
- What have I misconfigured/not done?
-
- Thanks (in advance) again
