- I ran into the TZ30 a couple of years ago on a MicroVAX 3100. My immediate
- reaction on taking the thing for a burn was that although it claimed to be
- the same speed as a TK50, it actually seemed considerably faster. Other folk
- have expressed a similar impression. It certainly wasn't _slower_ than a
- TK50/TQK50 combo.
-
- Things like WordPervert installation went like a rocket, at least partly
- due to the increased grunt of the machine (compared to the 750 it replaced).
-
- Idea: Could it be that the disk and tape drive are on the same SCSI chain?
- I've got a feeling that a lot of what I did with the thing involved the
- tape being on the other chain to the disk being copied to.
-
- Could it also be some bogosity in the driver in your version of VMS or
- to do with the machine in question's hardware? Is the SCSI chain properly
- terminated? Etc?
