- From our educational initiative agreement with DEC ...
-
- A. Requirements
-
- All systems that enter into the CSLG Program must have a valid standard
- operating system license (VMS, ULTRIX, ULTRIX Workstation Software or VMS
- Workstation Software) on the system prior to entering the program. If the
- system is upgraded to a larger system during the term of your CSLG
- Agreement, you must purchase the upgrade with the standard operating system
- upgrade. (This is covered in the terms and conditions of your CSLG
- Agreement.)
-
- In other words, you have to pay the upgrade cost (when you buy a CPU board,
- it must also have the VMS price tacked into it) because you are upgrading
- to a "larger system". I ran into this same situation and there was much
- confusion. Given the state of funding for education and various state
- budget situations, it would be nice if we could get a break on the HIGHLY
- EXPENSIVE (relative to certain other operating systems) VMS. How about it
- DEC?
