- RESEARCH POSITIONS

- 7 Principal, Senior or Research Scientists; 2 Research Associates
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------

- The Cooperative Research Centre for Distributed Systems Technology has been
- established under an Australian Government programme with initial
- Government and industry funding of $54 million over 7 years. It will
- develop technologies that will form infrastructure for global distributed
- information systems and services.

- Research Program:
-
- Research, in distributed architectures, databases, software tools and
- management, security, and performance (MSP) will develop new technologies
- in the form of prototypes and demonstrators for commercialisation.

- Architectures Infrastructure to provide services to clients across
- heterogeneous networks of disparate computers, working
- with ODP, DCE, OMG and other emerging technologies.

- Databases Uniform access to heterogeneous databases and applications
- across a network, involving integration architectures and
- methodologies, and distributed transaction processing.

- Software Tools The creation of distributed software and collaboration
- amongst distributed teams of software developers.

- MSP Tools for managing complex distributed systems, and in
- particular security and performance, involving DME,
- OSI management and security, and teletraffic.

- Research Positions:
-
- The CRC is seeking 7 people at the Principal, Senior and Research
- Scientist levels. Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant area and
- applicants for senior positions should show evidence of effective
- research leadership. Development or industrial experience is
- advantageous.

- In addition, the CRC is seeking 2 people at the Research Associate level
- to contribute to, and support, research in the areas mentioned above.
- Applicants should have an Honours or higher degree in computer science
- or mathematics, or equivalent experience in a relevant area.

- Terms:

- The positions are located at the 4 universities in South East Queensland
- participating in the CRC. Appointments will be for a initial period of
- 3 years. Salaries will be at least commensurate with equivalent
- positions offered by universities and public research organisations. For
