  27.   I posted a note on our internal conferencing system, and received the
  28. following note from the developer who is responsible for the new PL/I
  29. compiler for OS/2.  He OK'd posting it to the newsgroup since it may be
  30. of interest to other users, and the official announcement is going to be
  31. coming out shortly.

  40. This month, IBM will introduce and make available an industrial
  41. strength 32-bit implementation of PL/I on OS/2 2.0.
  42.  
  43. It implements the SAA PL/I Common Programming Interface described in
  44. "SAA CPI PL/I Reference" (SC26-4381) as well as a significant number of
  45. extensions allowing exploitation of functions and facilities of OS/2
  46. version 2. The product also addresses numerous user requirements
  47. submitted by SHARE/GUIDE user groups as well as implementing most of the
  48. features from the American National Standard PL/I General Purpose Subset
  49. (ANSI X3.74-1987).
