- This is a note to IBMers who read this news group.
-
- Yesterday I called tech support's 800 number and presented them with a problem
- regarding my installation. They solved the problem immediately and suggested
- that I obtain the fix from the IBM BBS via a modem.
-
- I said "Is this available though Internet at software.watson.ibm.com?", and the
- support person said "What's Internet?" This is NOT a good response. I finally
- got the person to put me through to his supervisor who had at least heard of
- the ftp site, but said he was totally unaware that OS/2 fixes were being posted
- there and made available for the general public's retrieval.
-
- It seems to me that the people at the 800-technical support number should be
- aware of all of the places to obtain the csd-like updates and that the ftp site
- should be publicized rather than "hidden", although I only mean that it is not
- a part of the tech's normal training information, not truely hidden.
-
- Is the watson ftp site "unofficial", or is it "officially" sanctioned? If it is
- official, someone should inform all of the technical support personel of what
- is there and how to get at it.
-
- Just a suggestion to IBM.. (NOT a flame).
