- The point is that there is often a steep learning curve to using *any*
- of these programs, and there is also an investment in data-entry time
- that you have made. Finally, if there are lots of other people using
- things like Excel and WfW, you sometimes need to exchange files with
- them. (That's mainly why I have WfW myself, even though I don't
- prefer using it.)
-
- This means that if we would really like to spend more of our time in
- OS/2, and less time re-booting into Windows or WINOS2, we would like
- to eventually (say at upgrade time) be able to get OS/2 versions of
- those programs.
-
- Oh come on, WfW and Excel are extremely easy to use. It takes time to
- discover all features, but you can start working - efficiently - at
- once with easy stuff (the same I would say about PowerPoint). Anybody
- who says that those MS products are bad should try them. They are
- excellent.
-
- I would gladly use OS/2 for running Windows packages, if OS/2 was not
- so buggy (wrt running Windows in SVGA and some other annoying
- problems). I invested several hundred of dollars in Windows software
- (if OS/2 2.0 was here two years ago, I would buy stuff for OS/2), so I
- am not very eager to spend another couple of hundreds on new packages
- for OS/2. It will take some time before they are as polished as the
- Windows counterparts. However, if the incoming CSD brings a bug free
- version (well, almost bug-free, since a completely bug-free software
- is yet to be seen), I will buy any new application for OS/2 (like
- Borland C++), and perhaps in 1-2 years I will upgrade the rest of the
- Windows applications.
