-
- This is not quite true! Although how to do the trick is not documented
- anywhere, that I could find it. (Other then good'ol usenet, of course)
-
- You can change the default view of folders. To do that, open the settings
- click on (M)enu, select ~Open from the avail. menu's and click on settings,
- the button right next to ~Open. The window, that comes up has a combo
- box saying Default Action, which is set to ~Icon view. Change this to
- whatever you want, i.e. details view. And here comes the TRICK!! All
- folders below the one, you just changed, INHERIT (wonderful OOP WPS) this
- new default behaviour. They open in details view!
- There is however one drawback. This method does not work with the root
- folder \. While you can change the default view of the drive
- object, the folders below don't inherit this behaviour.
-
- So, it isn't an omission in fuctionality, only a small bug. BUT it
- certainly is maximum sized omission in documentation!! Shame on you, IBM!
- To hide this feature from us. While I am at the subject. Did you know,
- that holding the Shift Key down, while resizing or moving a DOS window
- will cause OS/2 to remember the position and size of DOS windows (note
- plural! all new DOS windows will pop up at this location). This is esp.
- useful with borland c++, which now opens up in maximized window, so I
- can work with my 43 lines mode.

-
- You (meaning the original poster) can edit your system.ini file. Find the
- lines saying SAVDMApps=!gopm,!clipwos2,!ddeagent etc. Remove from these
- lines !clipwos2 (the public clipboard) and !ddeagent (you probably won't
- be exchanging Data btw. OS/2 and Windows via DDE either). Now these
- applications wont get started everytime you start windows.
