-
- Some time ago there was a discussion about VDISK.SYS. I reported that
- VDISK.SYS could be used in CONFIG.SYS, in which case the defined
- virtual disk would be globally accessible to all OS/2 and DOS windows.
- This does indeed work. I also reported that VDISK.SYS could be used
- for just one DOS window, in which case the defined virtual disk would
- be local to just that one DOS window. It was reported to me via private
- mail that this does not work. The DOS window crashes.
-
- Well, it crashes for me, too. I could swear I remember it working for
- me at some time in the past, but sometimes I remember mirages. In any
- case, it doesn't work *now*. Is this a known bug, or is VDISK.SYS not
- supposed to work on a session by session basis? Certainly, other
- device drivers such as ANSI.SYS work on a session by session basis.
-
- The original context of the discussion was that a virtual disk created
- by VDISK.SYS is a FAT disk, and the primary issue of the thread was
- whether or not there was a virtual HPFS disk available anywhere. To
- my knowledge, there is not a virtual HPFS disk available.
