- I am running OS/2 2.0 on a generic 386-33 with (what I think) is a
- Diamond Speedstar VGA with 1meg RAM (I couldn't get a completely
- straight answer from my dealer). I know for a fact that my board is
- an Tseng Labs ET4000 based board (I saw the chip). I am using
- standard VGA mode. Up until a few days ago everything was fine.
- Now, at random, vertical lines appear in my text and graphics modes,
- and often my text mode has blinking text (along with the vertical
- lines). Also, windows sometimes leave a kind of blue after image
- after I close them. I tried applying the black icon fix (replacing
- pmwin.dll and pmgre.dll) and the problem persists. The interesting
- thing is that when I reboot after this problem, I get no picture
- at all. I usually have to turn off the computer for > 10 sec to
- get the problem to go away. Other times, it goes through the POST
- just fine, the AMI BIOS display their message about how the system is
- set up, and then lines appear and the text starts blinking.
-
- Am I experiencing a hardware or software problem? seems like a software
- problem, considering the after-image that closed windows leave. Any
- ideas, anyone?
-
- thanks.
