  25. There's a bug in the OS/2 fdisk.  When I allowed the OS/2 program to
  26. do the fdisk, it didn't erase the newley-partitioned volume ID's.  So
  27. when it tried to format the new partitions as HPFS, it failed.  When I
  28. tried to format it manually, it asked for a volume label to be typed.
  29. After typing "DIR", I saw an untypeable volume label.

  31. I booted DOS, and formatted the volumes from there.  Then I
  32. re-installed, and used the install program to re-format them as HPFS.
  33. It worked fine from there.

  35. Note that your OS/2 "upgrade" install disks get marked once you make
  36. your first installation with them.  Afterwards, they're just like
  37. ordinary install disks.  You can install OS/2 onto an unformatted
  38. system with it after this.
