-
- There's a bug in the OS/2 fdisk. When I allowed the OS/2 program to
- do the fdisk, it didn't erase the newley-partitioned volume ID's. So
- when it tried to format the new partitions as HPFS, it failed. When I
- tried to format it manually, it asked for a volume label to be typed.
- After typing "DIR", I saw an untypeable volume label.
-
- I booted DOS, and formatted the volumes from there. Then I
- re-installed, and used the install program to re-format them as HPFS.
- It worked fine from there.
-
- Note that your OS/2 "upgrade" install disks get marked once you make
- your first installation with them. Afterwards, they're just like
- ordinary install disks. You can install OS/2 onto an unformatted
- system with it after this.
