- : : Stupid question, maybe: are you using FSACCESS to get at Drive A from
- : : the DOS 5.0 image you started?
- :
- : Actually, I should correct myself. I just changed the STARTUP DRIVE of
- : the DOS from drive A object to C. The DOS 5 system files are on C:\
- : but it is not an image created using VMDISK. Should that make
- : a difference?

- As I found out, it does make a difference. I made an image file
- using VMDISK from a bootup diskette in A: with config.sys including
- fsfilter.sys and himem.sys from OS2\MDOS. I also copied the sys
- files to A:\. Then everything works nicely. I can write to C
- and D from the specific DOS session. However, in addition
- to changing the STARTUP DRIVE to C:\imagefile , I also changed
- the DOS SHELL setting to C:\command.com c:\ /p. Otherwise,
- I cant login to the LAN properly (SYS3176 messages) despite
- the fact a similar SHELL command is in the config.sys of the
- image file.
-
- Strangely, I cannot successfully bootup from A: even after
- changing the STARTUP DRIVE and DOS SHELL appropriately
- (DOS does bootup but the network programs crash). But an
- image file made from the same diskette works fine!
- The network programs will work from A: only if fsfilter.sys
- is excluded (with attendant deficiencies previously reported).
-
- Thanks to Tan Min Jeng for suggestions.
