  13. Good Evening, all.
  14. This is a general request for assistance.  I have recently upgraded a
  15. 386/25 Dell with 8M to OS/2 in order to take advantage of the multi-tasking
  16. capability - at least to the extent that I understand it.  I would like to
  17. run a DOS-based data acquisition package I have, WorkBenchPC, within a dos
  18. window, while being able to use the computer for other things, primariliy
  19. data reduction.  However, we have found that the timing within WorkBench
  20. lags with respect to the real world, effectively making the package
  21. worthless.  I have just begun to examine the CONFIG.SYS to determine what
  22. changes could be made to remedy the problem, but i am very confused.  The
  23. distinction between Absolute and Dynamic priority elude me, particularly
  24. since I cannot get a clear view of the competing processes within the
  25. machine.  Can I use OS/2 for true multi-tasking with time-sensitive
  26. applications like WorkBenchPC?  or do I have to wait for a multi-threaded
  27. DAS for OS/2?  What are my options?  I am concerned cuz if I can't get OS/2
  28. working soon, it's history, and we go back to multi-tasking the ALGOR
  29. way.....

  31. A second problem we have is too many mouse pointers.  if I bring up
  32. WorkBench in a window, then I get two mouse pointers, neither of which work
  33. well and both of which are very choppy.  Is there a solution to this in the
  34. settings or something?
