- Good Evening, all.
- This is a general request for assistance. I have recently upgraded a
- 386/25 Dell with 8M to OS/2 in order to take advantage of the multi-tasking
- capability - at least to the extent that I understand it. I would like to
- run a DOS-based data acquisition package I have, WorkBenchPC, within a dos
- window, while being able to use the computer for other things, primariliy
- data reduction. However, we have found that the timing within WorkBench
- lags with respect to the real world, effectively making the package
- worthless. I have just begun to examine the CONFIG.SYS to determine what
- changes could be made to remedy the problem, but i am very confused. The
- distinction between Absolute and Dynamic priority elude me, particularly
- since I cannot get a clear view of the competing processes within the
- machine. Can I use OS/2 for true multi-tasking with time-sensitive
- applications like WorkBenchPC? or do I have to wait for a multi-threaded
- DAS for OS/2? What are my options? I am concerned cuz if I can't get OS/2
- working soon, it's history, and we go back to multi-tasking the ALGOR
- way.....
-
- A second problem we have is too many mouse pointers. if I bring up
- WorkBench in a window, then I get two mouse pointers, neither of which work
- well and both of which are very choppy. Is there a solution to this in the
- settings or something?
-
- Appreciate any and all help - thanx!!!
