- Although I saw much of the IDE vs. SCSI battles here, it
- degraded into enough of a can/can't LL format IDE "discussion"
- that I proceeded to ignore it.
-
- Of course, I now find myself in a position where I need to
- replace my existing (MFM) hard disk. What kind of price does
- the Adaptec 1542b SCSI controller have? My jaw hit the floor
- when I saw the pricing on the Ultrastor controllers.
-
- I'm afraid that plain economics will dictate that I opt for
- IDE. In light of this, I'm considering the Quantum LPS120A.
- Any opinions? How well do they deal with other drives if I
- decide to add another IDE at a later date?
-
- On another topic, I have yet to succeed in getting something
- other than the 640 16 color WPS screen on my generic ET4000
- video card. I've updated the files I need, tried all the
- Orchid drivers, followed their directions, played with VMODEB
- to try to set the card up every which way. I can't do 1024 as
- my monitor won't handle non-interlaced and I can't find an
- interlaced mode with < 60 Hz vertical rate. Essentially, the
- stuff loads and OS/2 is running, but I get the text screen
- with all the funky colored blocks. Any ideas would be
- appreciated, as I'm all but resigned to waiting for the CSD.
