- Hello.
-
- Since two or three days, I am having a problem
- *every time* the desktop is started during *booting*
- (that is, not when it's *restarted*).
-
- The desktop opens (the "animation" shows this),
- but no objects are displayed. Mouse clicks have no effect.
- Ctrl+Esc causes a message box to come up after a few seconds
- which says that the desktop isn't responding,
- offering me to close it.
-
- When I select that, another message box appears,
- telling me that SYS3171 occurred (error c000005 at 1a02c0a9)
- which couldn't be handled due to unsufficient stack memory,
- and that the process was ended. Also displayed is 'DOSCALL1.DLL 0002'
- (which is a familiar thing to me from previous errors).
-
- When I select to close the program,
- the desktop gets restarted (as expected), but no object views are started
- (or only minimized/hidden ones, I don't remember).
-
- This problem is *not* caused by:
-
- * the "new" kernel as opposed to the old one
- (well, I didn't change the swapfile info when trying this)
-
- * a corrupted DOSCALL1.DLL
-
- * a corrupted PMSHELL.EXE
-
- * objects being restarted
-
- - due to the settings in CONFIG.SYS
-
- - due to the desktop being a work folder
- (or whatever this is called in English)
-
- (One of the things I tried was unchecking this
- before restarting the system.
- Once this change seemed to have been lost
- but was kept later.)
-
- Any help or information will be greatly appreciated.
-
- Best wishes,
-
- Horst
