- Unfortunately not. IBM's way of saying that color is a "good thing,"
- I suppose.
-
- However, there are some extremely cheap options open to you. One is
- to acquire either an ATI EGA Wonder card or a Paradise Monochrome EGA
- card. I've seen both at around $25 now (in such publications as The
- Processor). One way to get ahold of one is to post a want ad in the
- appropriate newsgroup. Since this card will emulate EGA color modes
- on a TTL monochrome monitor you can keep your monitor and run OS/2 in
- EGA mode.
-
- The other way is to jump to VGA. Monochrome VGA setups are not much
- more than $100 for both monitor and card now. Color is certainly
- under $300.
-
- Lastly, I encourage you to call IBM at their support number and put in
- a request for a Hercules driver. Granted, Hercules isn't state of the
- art, but I agree with you that it should still be supported. (CGA is,
- after all.)
