  22. In my first attempt, I used the DOS2NT install over a NetWare Lite connection
  23. (from the CD ROM hanging off the Soundblaster in my wife's game machine :-),
  24. and it worked, though I had a few minor glitches I can't explain.
  25. Quick instructions:
  26. Make sure you have supported hardware:
  27.     Standard VGA (there are ET4000, V7 and XGA hires drivers)
  28.     Standard AT drive preferred, some SCSI adapters supported, e.g.
  29.      Adapted 1540/1542, WD7000EX, Future Domain
  30.     Serial mouse or bus mouse (tricky, must be absolutely compatible.
  31.      Mine doesn't work)
  32.     8 MB of RAM absolute minimum, MS says 12, more is better.
  33.     386 from C step or 486 SX/DX.
  34. Purge the root of anything not required, especially .BAT files and executtables
  35. other than COMMAND.COM. Have a CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT for DOS. 
  36. Make sure you have at least 70 MB free.
  37. Recommended: Defragment your hard disk.
  38. Make the network connection. Go to the CD ROM DOS drive.
  39. cd \dos2nt
  40. dos2nt C: 
  41. will copy the whole stuff to your hard disk and install the Flexboot.
  42. Be patient (especially over a cheap network and a cheap CD ROM drive, as in my
  43. case :-)
  44. Make sure all files from the CD have arrived, especially everything under
  45. the SYSTEM subdirectory (I had a problem here.)
  46. Edit C:\BOOT.INI (change \nt to \winnt) and
  47. c:\winnt\(don't know now)\registry.ini (See comments there).
  48. Reboot and see what happens. Be patient and expect two reboots.
  49. Hope this helps and I didn't forget anything vital.
