- Compuserve question first... Is some sort of support available
- via compuserve mail, or does everything happen in the forums
- there? In other words, since we Internet folk can e-mail to
- compuserve, is there a userid that I can mail my problems to
- (and thus avoid having to get a compuserve account)?
-
-
- Install problem - I am running the standard NT install stuff,
- and shortly after starting the character-based part, the system
- hangs during the "Examining disk configuration..." part. The
- system won't respond to anything but a hard reset. Does this sound
- familiar to anyone?
-
- Here are the particulars of my system configuration:
-
- 386/33 w/ Opti chipset
- AMI BIOS dated 6/1/92
- 16 MB RAM
- Ultrastor 12F ESDI disk controller w/ Track Remapping on
- 676 MB Maxtor disk
- Adaptec 1542B SCSI controller (w/ BIOS disabled)
- Toshiba TXM3301B CD-ROM drive
- Standard VGA card (Orchid Prodesigner+/512K - ET3000)
- No network
-
-
- I've tried virtually everything I can think of with the SCSI adapter,
- with no change in behavior (bios enabled/disabled, parity on/off on both
- the CD-ROM and the adapter). I can read the CD successfully under DOS.
-
- I've tried both Express and Custom install with the same results.
-
- My disk is partitioned as follows at the moment:
- 1) DOS 5.0 ~65 MB C:
- 2) Extended DOS ~500 MB D: - I: logical drives
- 3) OS/2 boot manager ~1 MB
- 4) OS/2 2.0 ~99 MB HPFS
-
- I used DOS fdisk to change the active partition from 3 to 1 just to
- make sure nothing funky was going on with the OS/2 boot manager. What
- I want to do is remove the OS/2 partitions and replace them with a
- single NT partition (or else just erase OS/2 and install NT on the
- HPFS partition without repartitioning); I don't think I can do any of
- this with dos2nt, since there's no way to make any more than 2
- partitions visible to DOS.
