- I can only speak about the VB Professional Toolkit. Can't compare it with
- anything else. The VB Pro Toolkit is one of the best $99 values I've
- ever bought. One nice thing is that the documentation is VERY well done.
-
- Important pieces: the "Setup kit" lets you build automatic installation
- programs. On the one hand, it's a LITTLE amateurish (actually has a bug
- in the file copy program). On the other hand, IT WORKS. And it's easy
- to customize and modify. And the routines and DLL it comes with have
- applications elsewhere. I have a very good, usable setup program -- and
- without the kit I just never would have gotten around to getting it all
- done.
-
- The help files. WINSDK.HLP (only 3.0, unfortunately). A collection of
- what seem to be all the VB-related files from the Microsoft Knowledge Base
- in help-file format. One that documents the INTERNAL API calls of VB
- itself.
-
- And the controls. I don't know how I lived without the THREED and the
- GRID controls. (Although the "spin button" seems totally bogus -- there's
- something wrong about the way it handles clicks, there's a strong tendency
- for it to trigger TWICE when you click it ONCE).
-
- And a few other goodies, like the CDK.
-
- It was a THOROUGHLY satisfactory purchase and I recommend it highly.
