- enough, I can drop right out of UNIX to the system monitor on my Sun.

- Windows provides all its own device drivers with the exception of disk
- drivers for the file services. It takes over and manages memory. It
- manages the keyboard, mouse, display, etc. If it also bothered with
- doing its own file management, it would BE an OS.

- isolation, preemptive multitasking, etc., being necessary for
- something to qualify as an OS.
