  12.     I would greatly appreciate if anyone can help me out with this 
  13. annoying problem from MSWORD 2.0 FOR WINDOWS that had consume so much of my 
  14. time and energy:

  16.     MY SYSTEM CONFIG :
  17.     1. 486/33 DX - 4 MB on BOARD 
  18.     2. 120 MB HDD and 2 DD 1.44 and 1.2
  19.     3. Dos 5.0 and Win 3.1
  20.     4. Tseng ET4000 with 1MB VRAM and COLORVIEW 800X600X256 drivers
  21.     5. no printers connected. ( I always use PRINT TO FILE )
  22.     6. TSR - diet , fdread , boot.sys .

  24.     My equation editor is installed with QMS-810 printer as default and 
  25. several other dot-matrix printers at idle. The problem is whenever I started 
  26. the equation editor, I get the message " MT-EXTRA font and FENCES font not 
  27. found  and " Some fonts will not be displayed or printed ". I tried it out 
  28. and some of the fonts cannot be displayed properly are Integration sign ( I 
  29. get a Z sign instead ) . It only happens to certain mathematical 
  30. functions while other greek characters come out well on screen and 
  31. printers. Well, the HELP file from Word only says this problem is due to 
  32. printers installed after MS Word Equation editor is installed ... which is 
  33. obviously not true for me. I had checked with the other friends with a 386/
  34. 33 and 486/33 computers and they install Word 2.0 using custom config ... 
  35. ALL OF US FACED THE SAME PROBLEM!

  37.     My Word for windows dated 28/10/91 . I try changing to other default 
  38. printers such as HP Postscript and reinstalled Equation Editor but it 
  39. doesn't work. Well, I found out that the fonts that Word installed for 
  40. me is only :

  42.     FENCES.FON   FENCES.TTF    MTEXTRA.FON   MTEXTRA.TTF

  44. and all of them resides under WINDOWS/SYSTEM subdirectory. The Font Manager 
  45. cannot display both fonts also when selected. I checked the substitution 
  46. table under Equation Editor but MTEXTRA and FENCES fonts doesn't appear 
  47. under the selection lists of fonts ( My Equation Editor only made 
  48. use of Symbols fonts and Times Romans fonts). Obviously both fonts had been 
  49. installed ( For True Type , only .TTF and .FON is required , altho there are 
  50. a bundles of .SFP .PFM .PFB fonts for MTEXTRA and FENCES on the installation 
  51. disks. ). Suprisingly, the other friend of mine installed Word 2.0 on his 
  52. laptop with Win 3.1 with no default printer and he doesn't have these 
  53. problems. This time I found .SFP .PFM .PFB fonts on his hard disk in 
  54. addition to True Type fonts. So, I scrapped the Word away and reinstalled 
  55. everything again ( including the main program of Win Word 2.0 ) with no 
  56. default printer. It still didn't work for me ..and only .FON .TTF fonts are 
  57. installed. I tried to reinstalled MS Word again by disabling True Type fonts 
  58. from Font Manager , but still .FON and .TTF fonts are copied to my hard disk 
  59. and the same sickening problem persists!

  61.     If anybody got the solution the problem , please let me know for I 
  62. am getting desperate!( Got Report to type and require equation editor).
