- Yep, FrameMaker for windows has been shipping for the last three
- months or so. There's a recent review in the PC Magazine that
- came out this month. I was a beta test site and am now a user of
- the program. I use it mainly because it runs on my SPARC at work,
- and I need to work at home from time to time. Since it only
- prints to laser printers (or, at least, to printers whose dot
- pitch is the same horizontally and vertically) my printer at home
- doesn't let me print :-(. You'll need SVGA (800x600) or greater
- resolution on your monitor for good results, although I've seen it
- running on a black and white laptop at 640x400. It needs some
- 10-20 meg of disk space, I think, for everything. It certainly
- works as advertised: I just polished off a 25-page technical memo
- with the thing. Strangely enough, the windows version load faster
- and is easier to use than the SPARC version, mainly because one
- doesn't need to reach for the mouse as often. It took me a while,
- but I think I can put docs out faster with FrameMaker than with
- nroff/troff, the previous standard around here. Now, if Frame
- would just start supporting end notes...
