  13. Well, I came into this thread late and am curious -- what is the method for
  14. cheating (excuse me, "luck" removal :-) in minesweeper?

  16. As for the argument that there is no luck in the game, I agree with the
  17. statement that, at least at the expert level, one routinely finds situations
  18. where one cannot logically deduce the location of a mine and is left with
  19. a 50/50 chance of uncovering it.  Here is my attempt to show one such
  20. example (based on a previous posting):

  28. The playing area outside of this "island" is irrelevent only to the extent
  29. that there are no mines in the "." squares, there are two possible solutions:

  36. And I, at least, cannot see how this situation lends itself to a logical
  37. deduction.  At least twice I've gotten to this sort of situation, the mine
  38. counter down to 2 and I have to guess -- BOOM, *&#%$!.  Now when I see this
  39. kind of situation develop I guess right away rather than waste time clearing
  40. the rest of the minefield only to blow myself up.

  42. I would, of course, only use any method of cheating to avoid these kinds of
  43. situations ;-)
