  14. I installed various TeX previewers on an 80386 MSDOS machine with AMI bios.
  15. They worked fine until I installed ANSI.SYS to make demacs work. Once
  16. I installed ANSI.SYS, they would show the first page of the 
  17. file but the arrow keys and numeric keypad didn't function any
  18. more to move around in the document. Eventually, I got around this
  19. without understanding it any better by replacing ANSI.SYS with
  20. TANSI.SYS (Trident ANSI.SYS), which turned out to still work with demacs
  21. and to be compatible with the previewers.

  23. For some reason, today I noticed that the previewers were not compatible with
  24. TANSI.SYS any more.

  26. Can anyone think of any reason why TeX previewers should be incompatible with
  27. ANSI.SYS?

  29. Is ther any way to figure out systematically what the source of the
  30. incompatibility is?
