- Hi,
-
- I'm curious to know how auto-logon scripts for communications software
- work. By this I mean after logging into some remote host and "handing
- over" control to that machine, how does your local machine know when
- to send over your login name, password, etc.?
-
- How is it done using a COM port? (like when using a modem) and, how might it
- (or is it) done with an Internet connection, using a pc with an ethernet card
- using ncsa telnet? Are the concepts the same, be it a COM port or a network
- card?
-
- I'm interested in the programming level of the communications software,
- not how to write a logon script.
-
- Any comments, advice or references to books or articles are appreciated.
-
- Thanks,
-
