  13. The problem that I reported earlier with a PC/XT's serial port
  14. screwing up memory and freezing my program;  is now solved.
  15.  
  16. All I had to throw out was a little error that did not surface
  17. anywhere else: a write to the Modem Status Register (value 0).
  18.  
  19. Has anyone else experienced something similar,  where an innocent
  20. OUT to a well known "safe" address corrupts the PC?
