- A very aging Leading Edge, c.1987, running Dos 3.10, has recently
- decided that its hard disk is not operational. I can boot it from
- floppies and run whatever exists on floppies, but that's about
- it. I've tried to use fdisk to repartition the hard drive and
- reinstall Dos, but it refuses to accept the reality of its c:
- drive...i.e., when asked whether I want to use the entire
- fixed disk for Dos, whether I answer Y or N, it locks up on
- the C drive (which I suspect because the c: drive red light
- stays on).
-
- I'm not trying this because I want to save a hopeless cause,
- it's rather just a stop-gap till I can afford a completely new
- machine...or maybe just replace the hard disk if that's what's
- required. Is there any way around this problem or should I
- just save my pennies for a 286 or 386 and forget salvaging
- what I have?
-
- Thanks for any advice.
