- Sorry for all my whining while trying to install GCC, but my file systems
- were getting really cluttered and I was getting frustrated.
-
- SO.......I remade the file systems and reinstalled mtools and started over.
- Here is what I have:
-
- 2 64MB Linux partitions (/usr mounted to one)
- 1 8MB swap partition
-
- in my root dir.
-
- 0971inc.tar.Z
- 2.2.2ddb.tar.Z
- 2.2.2dg1.tar.Z
- 2.2.2dlib.tar.
- 2.2.2dmisc.tar
- bin
- binutils.tar.Z
- dev
- etc
- faq.gcc
- home
- install.2.x
- lib
- mnt
- readme
- release
- tmp
- usr
-
-
- NOTICE THE TRUNCATED FILE NAMES.
-
- According to FAQ.GCC, README, and 2.2.2d.release, I have everything I need
- here in the rot dir. I put the kernel sources under /usr/src/linux and I even
- went ahead and uncompressed and untared 0.97pl1inc.tar.Z (aka0971inc.tar.Z on
- my drive) and put it in /usr/src/linux.
-
- Now the docs say execute the following command, which fails and I get
- the following error message.
-
- sh install.2.x -v 2.2.2d /usr/src/linux
-
- :command not found
- 'yntax error near '()
- 'nstall.2.x:5: 'kernelstuff()
-
-
- So now I ask, what do I have to do??? I want to install GCC the "right way"
- but it never works. The process I described in a previous post
- "WANT GCC??? IGNORE README AND FAQ. READ THIS FIRST!!!!" worked
- and gave me a compiler of unknown performance.
-
- SO NOW I ASK, NOW THAT I HAVE FOLLOWED ALL THE DOCS, WHAT SHOULD I DO?????
- I appreciate any info that you can send.
