  12. Hi, I'm having some seriuos trouble with my scsi-host card and Linux.
  13. The problem is as follows:

  15. I haven't yet installed Linux on my HD so I boot from the BOOT-0.97 
  16. diskette.
  17.  
  18. When I start from a coldboot the boot finds my scsi card and hangs.
  19. I have looked and found that the card itself hangs after the message
  20. that Linux has found a scsi card.
  21.  
  22. Then when I boot (warm boot that is) Linux doesn't find any scsi card at
  23. all. This due to that the card is hung.
  24.  
  25. If I do reboot to DOS the card is functioning perfectly. I'm using PowerSave
  26. to do Backups under DOS and haven't yet encountered any problems.

  28. Question as follows: Have anyone encountered this or am I alone with this
  29. problem ?
  30. Is there a solution ? ( Please don't give me: "Look patchlevel X.XX" or
  31. "recompile the kernel" cause I'm not in the position to do this )

  33. For your convinience I here present my configuration:
  34.  
  35. Copam 486/33B with 16Mb and 256 Kb cache using Phoenix BIOS A486 1.01
  36. Quantum 210A a 210Mb harddisc.
  37. Trident 8900C 1Mb SVGA noname card.
  38. AND
  39. SCSI host card Adaptec 1542B with BIOS 3.10. This is installed with a
  40. standard preinstalled configuration.  Wangtek SCSI tapestreamer.

  42. Please give me a solution bescuase I also want to use the superb OS
  43. that I find Linux to be.
