- I'm trying to build gdb version 4.6 without success. After everything
- compiles and make runs the big 'smash everything together' load that makes
- the executable file, either one of two things happens:
-
- (When I run 'make' from the top level) - The load bombs with a
- protection fault (I can get specifics if they are of use), or
- (When I cd down to the gdb subdirectory and do a 'make gdb') -
- it hangs, or appears to hang (10+ minutes of no disk activity).
- I'm able to ^C out, though.
-
- I'm running 0.97.p1 and gcc 2.2.2d/patch5 on a 486/33 with 4mb memory and
- 12mb swap, with about 10mb left on the partition I'm using to build gdb.
-
- Also, is there a cookbook somewhere for turning .a files into jumptable shared
- libraries?
-
- If I get useful answers to either question I'll summarize to comp.os.linux.
- Thanks.
