  13. I've heard part of that story too. But I heard it it was a case of the
  14. professor deciding several years after it had been released that
  15. he didn't want it circulated because people would confuse it with
  16. the real thing. If I find my copy, I can verify if the initial release
  17. was public domain.

  19.  My understanding is once software is released to public domain, there
  20. is no mechanism for recalling it, besides appealing to the public's
  21. better nature. Net lawyers can report on this to us.
