- Hi,
-
- I just installed the driver for the SoundBlaster and tried some of
- the demos. At first things seemed to work. The 'str15' and 'str32'
- programs worked with the demos. The only, esthetically non-pleasing
- problem I had were a couple (4-10) of
- SoundBlaster: DSP Command Timeout.
- messages.
-
- But then I tried to play the 'endoftheworld' demo with various programs,
- none of which worked. I had to kill some of them with a ^C, or they
- core-dumped.
- But now if I try to play one of the tracks15 or tracks32 demos I get
- the following message:
-
- SoundBlaster: DSP Command Timeout.
- SoundBlaster: DSP Command Timeout.
- SoundBlaster: IRQ7 already in use
- /dev/dsp: Device or resource busy
-
- So, can anyone shed some light on this? What does the 'DSP Command Timeout'
- messages mean? Should I see them under normal operation? And why are the
- IRQ and device not cleared?
-
- Thanks for any info

- BTW. Is there (or: Shouldn't there be) a mailing-list channel for soundcards?
