  12.     When I boot Linux with my Adaptec 1542B (revision J) SCSI
  13. controller, Linux recognizes that there is an Apaptec controller,
  14. prints something like "SCSI: 1 host found", and then waits forever.
  15. With debugging turned on under 0.97.2, I get the following messages:

  26.     Characters still echo when I type them, but I can't do anything
  27. to get the kernel to proceed beyond this point.  I get the same
  28. behavior with my CDROM attached to the SCSI bus and with nothing
  29. on the SCSI bus.  It also does not matter whether or not I remove
  30. my serial/parallel card and modem.  I have tried booting 0.97, 0.97.1
  31. and 0.97.2.

  34.     The FAQ on tsx-11.mit.edu mentions that the version of the SCSI
  35. code rolled into the standard Linux distribution is not the latest
  36. version available, when when I checked headreast.colorado.edu, all of
  37. the distribution files had version numbers in the .95-.96 range, suggesting
  38. that they actually correspond to earlier versions of linux.
