- There is a file (I beleive it is /usr/lib/X11/xinitrc, but don't quote
- me, 'cause I forgot) that controls what happens when you type
- 'startx'.
-
- copy this file to .xinitrc in your root directory, and edit it to
- contain code to start up the programs you want, including your window
- manager.
-
- ON ANOTHER NOTE:-----
-
- Who would be interested in a GWM window manager written for, I.E.
- associated with Linux. Granted, a WM is a WM, but one that could
- be considered the 'de facto' Linux WM (once you get past twm).
-
- I am currently writing a GWM WM called ZWM. It is a 3-D WM vaguely
- reminiscent of the NeXTStep system, but it is not a clone. It will,
- for example, have a 2-d-only mode, and you can choose to have all
- the buttons, say, in 2-d, etc.
-
- If no one-s interested, I'll save myself some time and write it just
- for me. But if anyone else is interested, I'll take the time to make
- a nice customization interface.
-
- If anyone is interested in seeing this thing (just vestiges right now,
- really) I'll make a stable version and place it on an FTP site.
