  11. There is a file (I beleive it is /usr/lib/X11/xinitrc, but don't quote
  12. me, 'cause I forgot) that controls what happens when you type
  13. 'startx'.

  15. copy this file to .xinitrc in your root directory, and edit it to
  16. contain code to start up the programs you want, including your window
  17. manager.

  21. Who would be interested in a GWM window manager written for, I.E.
  22. associated with Linux.  Granted, a WM is a WM, but one that could
  23. be considered the 'de facto' Linux WM (once you get past twm).

  25. I am currently writing a GWM WM called ZWM.  It is a 3-D WM vaguely
  26. reminiscent of the NeXTStep system, but it is not a clone.  It will,
  27. for example, have a 2-d-only mode, and you can choose to have all
  28. the buttons, say, in 2-d, etc.

  30. If no one-s interested, I'll save myself some time and write it just
  31. for me.  But if anyone else is interested, I'll take the time to make
  32. a nice customization interface.

  34. If anyone is interested in seeing this thing (just vestiges right now,
  35. really) I'll make a stable version and place it on an FTP site.
