- That won't actually be necessary, since the conversion program that I've
- written does a wonderful job of converting a first-generation efs partition
- into the second-generation format right where it sits. This program will
- be included with the release of EFS: The Next Generation, so even if you
- only have one large efs partition, you won't have to go through a full
- mkfs/restore to use the new efs (of course, the disk is already backed
- up, right?) I've been testing it using fairly large loop partitions
- (thanx Werner), and will soon use it to convert my entire disk. I've
- just been waiting to make sure that there will be no further changes to
- the new efs disk format -- Remy is still putting the finishing touches on
- things. The public release for alpha testing is just around the corner.
