  10. I've just tried compiling the kernel version 0.97 (including patches 1&2)
  11. with gcc-2.2.2d. It compiles fine, but when I try to boot off the Image
  12. produced I get a general protection fault (at least I guess that's what
  13. it is). It goes through most of the initialisation stuff fine, but
  14. just before printing /etc/issue, just after printing Free mem:..., it
  15. prints:

  25. It then lets me log on fine. However, certain commands (clear, sync)
  26. produce a similar message.
