- I've just tried compiling the kernel version 0.97 (including patches 1&2)
- with gcc-2.2.2d. It compiles fine, but when I try to boot off the Image
- produced I get a general protection fault (at least I guess that's what
- it is). It goes through most of the initialisation stuff fine, but
- just before printing /etc/issue, just after printing Free mem:..., it
- prints:
- general protection: 0000
- EIP: 0008:0000DA65
- EFLAGS: 00010086
- fs: 0017
- base: 00000000, limit: C0000000
- Pid: 3, process nr: 3

- It then lets me log on fine. However, certain commands (clear, sync)
- produce a similar message.
-
- Any ideas?
-
- Piers.
