- I grabbed the new alpha version 4 of LILO off tsx the other day. I've been
- trying to install it to boot Linux out of an extended _parition_ (i.e.
- not an extended _filesystem_).
-
- I have two SCSI drives /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. The first drive is all
- Messy-LOSS, Windows, OS/2 and Windows NT. On the second drive, I have
- two partitions: a primary 20mb DOS parition, and an 80mb extended parition
- with three logical drives for Linux. They map as: 22mb /dev/sdb5 - root,
- 8mb /dev/sdb6 - swap, and 50mb /dev/sdb7 - usr.
-
- When I ran "lilo -i boot.b /usr/src/0.97-pl1/Image" I got the message
- "Could not install boot sector in extended parition 0x815". Why is this
- happening? I thought LILO could boot extended paritions... I'm I just
- being boneheaded and doing something wrong?

- On another note, I just read a post (sorry, can't remember the author) about
- problems with make and 0.97-pl2. I ran into this as well. mount seems to
- work, but make breaks every so often. Sometimes running make without any
- makefile to be found causes it to dump core. Odd.
