  11. I'm glad I can finally help with something important.
  12. Here's how I got elm to work:

  14. cd to doc - read the documentation!!!

  16. Edit the Configure script - it barfs on the awk 'sanity check'.
  17. I just commented out this line or 2, around line #250.
  18.  
  19. Say yes to the 'does the second field in the passwd file contain the
  20. user names' - default is no.
  21.  
  22. The full path of pathalias data file should be /usr/lib/mail/paths.
  23.  
  24. 'domains (uumail)' - change to /etc/domain.
  25.  
  26. Say yes to MMDF (mailer) format - default is no.
  27.  
  28. I made 'favorite shell' /usr/bin/ksh.

  30. Then I did sh Configure, and it installed.

  32. I think make was next, and then make install.
  33.  
  34. Make documentation failed, so I finished it by hand.

  36. * I had to make /usr/spool/mail 777 for elm to work properly.

  38. All in all, the Configure script is probably one of the best I've ever seen.
  39. It took about a half hour to install.
