- Coherent 4.0 already contains the libndir-functions (opendir, readdir and
- so on) so you no longer need this stuff.
-
- : 2) Installation of WNEWS.
-
- WNEWS was the first program in my "Coherent career" that I tried to port
- so don't blame me if the sh-script fails :-))
-
- Nevertheless needs WNEWS (like GNEWS) some fixes before it works with 4.0.
- Also there are two bugs (at least) when using WNEWS with Coherent.
-
-
- : 3) Installation of TIN.
-
- TIN already has an installation script. It's nothing more that cp'ing it to
- /usr/local/bin and setting permissions.
-
- NEVERTHELESS:
-
- Assume one has to write each time an extra installation script after he ports
- a program. Then you can be sure that only very few guys will ever give their
- ports to the public. The programs are in most cases without installation
- script even in their original posted form.
-
- ALSO: A NEWS-System is always very difficult to install. When I first got
- CNEWS for 386/ix a friend came over and installed and configured my news
- system. Even a good script cannot solve all problems that may occur.
