- I am faced with putting together a video editting/computer
- animation suite for a small data visualization lab. We
- would like to be able to combine live video (eg., someone
- introducing the video or sitting in front of a computer.),
- single frame animation (generated by Alias), and the real
- time output of some of our in house software. The idea
- is to generate a promotional video for our lab as well
- as videos to complement reports. I will
- need video and audio capabilities as well as a method to
- generate titlesi, music, etc.
-
- Currently, all of our images (except live video) are being
- generated on SGI machines. For our editting suite, I will
- more than likely be purchasing a new machine, so I will
- basically be starting from scratch. I'm not sure if going
- to a Mac or maybe the Video Toaster would be better than
- trying to do everything on a workstation.
-
- I'm sure there are people who have had experiences putting
- together similar setups. I would like to hear about how
- you have or would tackle this problem. I would like to
- put together the cheapest setup with the best quality.
- (I guess that would go without saying).
-
- thanks in advance
