I know that the user I am trying to send mail to uses WordPerfect Office on his end. They evidently have a "Retix X.400" gateway for WordPerfect Office and
they use SprintMail (aka TeleMail) for their "foreign mail" delivery.
By using the "mail -v" command, I have been able to track the message through
the system "sprintf.merit.edu". This system claims that the address is valid
and the message has been successfully delivered. I should add that I had
several unsuccessful attempts where I got a "mail not deliverable" response back
from the gateway
I have sent several messages to "postmaster@sprint.com" and haven't gotten any
replies.
I have also had the person I am trying to send mail to try and send mail the
other way. He was able to evidently get Sprint to trace the delivery of the
message as far as the internet and just like me, he has received no negative
feedback regarding the message (in other words, it didn't bounce)
I have talked with people at sprint's 800 number (800 336-0437) and also have
called Merit @ 800 666-3748. Everyone seems to be pointing the finger at the
other party (sprint says it is an internet problem, merit says it is a sprint
problem)
Does anyone know of a way we might be able to resolve this for once and for all?
Please, respond by email to garrett@me.udel.edu if you think you may have ANY
suggestion at all for how we can make this work? I don't want to have to give
in and get a mailbox on attmail or mcimail, although I am rapidly tiring of thishoo-hah and am just about ready to do this!
Many, many thanks in advance!!!!
(I have reference numbers for messages sent in each direction, if anyone knows
how I can trace these messages, please let me know!!!)
