- I've managed to get popper up and running on my sun and I've been trying
- out Eudora. I like the interface and we will probably use it for all of
- the non-unix/mostly-mac users in the front office.
-
- But I would like to keep my mail sorted on the unix host rather than locally
- on the mac. Is there any way to get Eudora/popper to read from a different
- mailbox than the default system mailbox?
-
- From my quick scan of the Eudora docs and especially the POP-3 protocol rfc,
- I would guess the answer is "NO". ( But I wouldn't mind some verification
- from somebody who really KNOWS! ;-)
-
- I also tried to get Mailstrom to work, before I read the appendix and saw
- that the IMAP host it refers to is a completely different protocol:
- [ rfc1203 Interactive Mail Access Protocol - version 3 (Obsoletes RFC 1064) ]
- ( I also note, that in looking up that number, I see that I've been reading
- a superceded version of POP-2: rfc1081 instead of rfc1225 - so maybe there
- are added functions ? )
- From another quick scan of the documents, this protocol seems to be
- designed more for what I have in mind: access to a centralized mail repository
- from multiple clients in a way that keeps changes common to all.
-
- Is that an accurate description of the different domains
- of those two protocols?
-
- Where can I find an IMAP server for unix ?
-
- Are there any IMAP clients for MS-DOS ?
- (or others for Mac besides Mailstrom?)
