  10. We are having a problem with mail routing that apprently the 
  11. administrators at the University are unable to correct.  Hopefully,
  12. someone might have an idea of where they can look to get this problem 
  13. solved.

  15. What is happening is that when mail is routed through the University,
  16. the To: From: and even Reply-To: headers are being changed (mangled would
  17. be a better word).  The result is that when the recipent gets the message
  18. and tries to reply to it, the headers are malformed and cause the messages
  19. to bounce.

  21. My first question is why would these headers need to be changed in the
  22. first place?  In most cases, the addresses are domain style easily 
  23. accessible addresses.

  25. Why the Reply-To header is also changed doesn't make any sense as I 
  26. always thought that this header was intended to go though unschathed.

  28. The University is using ULTRIX V4.2 (Rev. 96) and apparently is using
  29. sendmail.

  31. This problem has been identified since at least January and several
  32. attempts have been made by their administrators to correct the problem
  33. without sucess.
