  18.     We are running a mail config. which involves a central mail server, and
  19.   a cluster of clients that send all mail to the mail server for final delivery
  20.   (this includes both incoming and outgoing mail).  The mail server exports 
  21.   /usr/spool/mail to itself and to all of the clients, but the mail server does 
  22.   not mount user home directories. Also, users are not allowed to log into the 
  23.   mail server (they have no shell on the mail server).

  25.     The problem is this (and I would like to know how others have gone about 
  26.   solving it), since the mail server does not mount the users' home dir. their 
  27.   .forward file does not get read (remember, the clients ship all mail to the 
  28.   mail server for final delivery).

  30.     The solution is trivial when the .forward file contains a site to forward
  31.   mail to, but it is a little tricky when users are using ELM's filter package.

  33.     What can I do to get filter back? I can't even mount the users' home dir.
  34.   on the mail server since they have no shell there. I don't want every client 
  35.   in our dept. writing to /usr/spool/mail, so client delivery of local mail is 
  36.   out.
