-
- I know of several small and large companies using Modula-2 :-)

- Oberon-2 is no way out of the dilemma that Modula-2 did not get the attention
- it ought to. Although I'm a friend of Oberon-2 too (we've written a back-end
- for VAX/VMS for the front-end of Crelier's OP2), there is almost no
- interest in Oberon-2 in the real world.
-
- Because I thought that is because we chose the wrong target platform,
- I recently inquired at ETH-Zuerich to find out what their experiences are
- with the acceptance with Oberon[-2].
-
- Answer: There is currently *no* interest in Oberon[-2] from industry.
- Only Universities, research institutes
- and recreational programmers (hobbiest) show some interest in Oberon.
-
- Maybe the O2-baby has to grow up fisrt by going through some standardisation
- process?
-
- Do you know exactly what the "WG..." (I assume you mean sc22.wg13) has done
- during the past 7 years? What's your problem with ISO Modula-2? The IS may take
- another 18 months, but we can take advantage of the Standardisation work
- today. How?
-
- The main arguments against M2 was always "There is no standardised
- library!" The ISO M2 Std Lib for example can be used today in Modula-2 (and
- we do that in Oberon-2 too) of course. You don't need to wait for
- the IS. You need not wait for an ISO M2 compiler.
- You can write portable programs in M2 today! You can't?
