- SUMMARY: Searching for X-Windows image display programs/widgets
-
- I'm searching for a public domain X-Windows based image display tool for
- the visualization of 8 & 16 bit raster scalar data to use as part of a
- 3rd year computer science project. I don't expect to find anything that
- meets all of the requirements (a draft version of which is attached to
- the end of this posting), but I hope to be able either extend or use
- parts of an existing program/widget for developing a program that does.
-
- Could anyone who knows of any such programs (that are not listed below)
- please email me a note with instructions on how to obtain a copy.
-
- I have so far found the following programs but I have decided to
- continue searching.
-
- Complete programs :-
-
- saoimage - iraf image display tool (X11)
- ximage - NCSA image display tool (X11)
-
- Widgets/libraries :-
-
- vimage0.9 - Widget set for raster image display
-
- Does anyone know when version 1.0 of vimage will be
- released? I haven't been able to contact the author.
-
- Please reply via e-mail and I will post a summary.
-
- Thanks in advance,

- or line and pixel depending on the type of image)
- - coastline overlays (for geographically regular
- images using a map such as the CIA world map)
- - legends
- - labels
- - contrast enhancement tools enhanced over multiple
- images using a technique such as histogram
- equalization.
- - pseudo-colour manipulation and display facilities
- - gamma correction
- - image flipping (horizontal/vertical)
- - image zooming (in/out)
- - panning
- - contouring
